We provide a relatively prompt and efficient service by offering assessments on any of the 7 days of the week and by completing assessment reports within two weeks of the assessment date.
If you have dyslexia or a specific learning difficulty, it can sometimes be hard to know where to turn for support and help. Maybe you know someone (child or adult) who is struggling or looking for support and guidance with literacy. Dyslexia and SLD Assessments Victoria have expertise in the assessment of Specific Learning Disorders, such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia. We use assessment (i.e., cognitive and educational assessment) as a basis for identifying types of support and modifications to help the person achieve to their potential. For children, we also provide reviews of progress if necessary. This is an important distinction about the services provided by the Dyslexia-SLD Assessments Victoria; that is, we do not just provide assessment, but also ongoing monitoring of progress in literacy for children in Primary School. For older children and adults there is more of a focus on using the assessment as a basis for modifications and adjustments, such as special examination arrangements.
We take a ‘big picture’ approach to addressing and managing SLDs (including dyslexia). Rather than advocating a single treatment or remediation approach we emphasize the need for various approaches working together in combination/ association. This approach also emphasizes the need for overall management and modifications.

Dyslexia & SLD Assessments Victoria was formerly known as the Dyslexia and SLD Association of Victoria. The modification in the name was made to better reflect the primary focus of the service provided. We have a long history of providing assessments of Specific Learning Difficulties/ dyslexia. We have expertise from the field of dyslexia research, from the field of education, and in teaching children and adults with dyslexia. This provides the basis for an integrated approach to dyslexia and SLDs. We are here to provide advice, guidance, help and support for all those in our community and their families.
